Early Works Package

What’s commonly referred to as the “Early Works Package” has begun as of early January. This work includes demolition of the concrete apron to make way for the installation of a foundation and utilities for the second-level concourse.

“Passenger tunnels are fully in use, allowing passengers to get to their aircraft and safely transition through the area that is the active construction site,” said Richard Strickland, Director of Airports, at a regular meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners on January 18.

Construction of the aircraft apron is expected to begin in February or March, Strickland said, while vertical construction will hopefully begin in April.
